Unbeknownst to us, the Guestbook for this site has for some time had a glitch that prevented
folks from signing the book or leaving comments. To fix that, we've upgraded the Guestbook
for better functionality and a totally new look. We apologize to those of you who may have attempted
to sign the book but couldn't because the security number you were supposed to enter didn't appear. The
good news is that the glitch led us to a better Guestbook. All entries from the previous Guestbook
have been transferred to the new one, with the original posting dates indicated. Check it out and
sign in, please! >

Our Obituaries
page notes the passing of David Jo (Densmore) Baggett, a dear friend of
Mineral Springs School and of this Web site. David Jo attended Mineral
Springs from 1952 until 1961. During the entirety of that time she was a
friend and classmate of the Webmaster of this site, who will always cherish
her memory and be grateful for her friendship.

Two new treasures have been added to our archives collection. First is the
oldest document in the archives--a copy of a
third grade report card
from school year 1917-1918. This was at least 4 years before the school
moved from its Jew Hollow location to the "new" building of our memories. We
also have a photo of what may be the original
Mineral Springs School bell.

We also note the passing of longtime Coalburg resident and Mineral student
Bud England on the Obituaries

Again thanks to Sid Adkins, an
old newspaper clipping comes to light that depicts the officers of the
Jefferson County Teachers' Association circa 1958. Prominent among them are
association president Richard Causey (erroneously identified as Richard Causly), who was Mineral Springs principal from 1957 to 1959, and treasurer
B. H. Oden, who succeeded Mr. Causey as principal in 1959.

Thanks to Sid Adkins, we've been able to add a new class photo. Check out
the 8th grade class of 1958-'59.

Unfortunately, most of the recent updates have been to the
Obituaries page, where we've noted the recent
passing of Lynn Gibson, Jack Sorensen, Sanford Herron, and George Pennington.
